By Fr. Nick Kotsis - Growing up, I must say that I watched my fair share of television. When watching shows with my brothers, we couldn’t stand the commercials. As we grew older, we clearly understood that the point of television is to bring us commercials with some programming in between. But the thing is, I remember so many of those commercials; the jingles, the slogans, even some of the actors. Those ad people really knew what they were doing.
From Fr. Nick Kotsis - When we moved into our house in 2005, the west end of our backyard needed a lot of work. The area from the southwest corner toward the front was filled with the stumps of small trees and bushes of an overgrown area the previous owners had ignored for a while. It took me two years to completely clear that area. All that was left was a large maple tree about 30 feet from that southwest corner.
By Fr. Nick Kotsis - Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I hope and pray everyone is well. I was speaking with a parishioner this afternoon, and we were batting around an idea. Here we have a virus that is invisible to the naked eye (I know it is seen through electron microscopes and by seeing it through these powerful devices is how it was named, Corona) and the entire world is transfixed by the image.
By Fr. Nick Kotsis - On the first 5 Fridays during Great Lent, we honor Christ and the Theotokos through the Service of the Salutations to the Virgin Mary. Why?
Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Chronia Polla! Happy Nameday to everyone, especially those named Evangelia or Evangelos! By Fr. Nick Kotsis - Great Lent is the time during the year when there is an appointed schedule for readings from the Old Testament. Most of the year, readings from the Old Testament are appointed only for certain Great Vespers services (readings from the Psalms are the exception – they are offered during nearly every daily service of the Church). Most of the year, the scriptural focus is on the Gospels and the rest of the New Testament.
