ICONOGRAPHY PHASE IV – NORTH AND SOUTH – TO SPONSOR ICONS
To sponsor Phase IV icons, contributions are encouraged in any amount: you may sponsor an icon in whole or in partial; you may contribute to the iconography fund; you may offer contributions on behalf of yourself, in honor of a living loved one; or in memory of a deceased loved one. We gratefully accept donations in any amount, and your donation may be towards any icon you may choose in our Iconography Phase IV – North and South Program. Please send in your contribution at your earliest, and designate ICONOGRAPHY on your check or donation and envelope, especially for a memorial. Specifically thanked are all who have already contributed and who continue to contribute to sponsor icons, including paying balances of icon sponsorships.
Please take this opportunity to make your personal donation as a gift of lasting memory. Your name and commemoration will appear on our Saint Luke Donor Board for your children and all to see. You will leave a lasting mark on our Saint Nicholas Church history that will remain long afterwards. We encourage you to accept our invitation to sponsor an icon.
We suggest you review lists on this website: Icons Open for Sponsorship – Contribute – In Whole, Partial or Any Amount; also, our reference brochure Iconography Phase IV – North & South Sponsorship Program and the Sponsor Offer Form. These lists and references may be found on the Iconography table in the social hall during Sunday coffee hour IIC members are available to assist you. Please note, as in the past if needed, Father Nicolaos Kotsis will reconcile selection of requested icons on Pastoral considerations.
This website includes icons written in progress by the hand of Mr. Petrou and his staff for Phase IV as well as icons we now see in the Church Becoming What We Behold.
We draw your attention to the many beautiful and inspiring icons. Unique icons are written for the Exo-Narthex: The Scroll Scripture with Jesus Christ and Two Angels, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden…., the icon of Christ Healing the Multitudes, the icon of Christ the Good Shepherd, and the icon of Praise the Lord from the Heavens, Praise Him in the Highest. The lettering on icons in the Exo-Narthex in English. These engaging icons will welcome us and our visitors upon entering this Sanctuary, the Temple of God, the Kingdom of God on Earth. Our spiritual journey begins.
Icons written for our north and south window walls are seldom found in our Churches: The Most Holy Theotokos and Akathist Hymn to the north; and to the south, icons of the Life of Saint Nicholas Bishop of Myra in Lycia (our Patron Saint). Please review these inspiring icons. You may call the Church office for answers to questions and you will be referred to a person who can help you.
After completing this final iconography phase we will look to replacing our temporary Iconostasis (icon screen) with a permanent structure. Upon completion of the Iconostasis, we may then proceed to Consecration of our Holy Saint Nicholas Church. Consecration of the Church by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas will complete our Saint Nicholas Sanctuary, a Kingdom of God on earth, our beacon on the hill, our landmark in our city of Ann Arbor. We pray with your help this will happen soon. May God bless our efforts to Glorify Him.
