Summertime fun with a theme at our vacation church school.

Vacation Church School 2022

Vacation Church School for summer 2022 will take place
Monday, June 27 to Friday July 1 from 9am to 1pm!

This year’s theme will be “Manna from Heaven.” Children attending will have the opportunity to learn about how to make Prosphoro, Artoclasia, Koliva, Vasilopita, and Phanouropita and will learn what special meaning each of these have in our church. We will provide aprons for campers and volunteers on the first day. Please sign up by June 16 th to reserve your spot! Ages entering Kindergarten to having finished sixth grade in 2022.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Camp will take place both indoors and outdoors under a tent. All Diocese COVID Policies will be followed. Your camper will need to bring a packed lunch and a snack, if desired. Please also bring a clearly labeled water bottle. The church will also have light snacks and water available, if needed. Both campers and volunteers must be registered ahead of time to appropriately plan! There is a $5 fee for each camper that will be donated to our Outreach Food Pantry. Payment can be sent in to (or dropped off at) the church office before June 16th. Payments sent via mail should be sent to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3109 Scio Church Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103, with a note indicating that the money is for VCS. Volunteers do not need to pay. If the registration fee is a problem for any family, please contact the church office for accommodations.

Campers will learn about preparing Prosphoro, Artoclasia, Koliva, Vasilopita, and Phanouropita and will learn what special meaning each of these have in our church. The week will include participating in church services, attending educational sessions provided by our parish priest, playing indoor and outdoor games, making crafts, baking, participating in a service project, and experiencing fun and fellowship with each other!

VCS DAILY SCHEDULE:
8:30-8:45- check in/drop off
9:00am- church service/talk by Fr. Nick
9:30am-12:00pm- baking/crafts,
educational sessions

12:00pm-1:00pm- lunch and play
Children may be picked up anytime between 12:00pm-1:00pm, but please be sure to arrive for pick up by 1:00pm the latest and be sure to check out prior to leaving, so we know that all children are accounted for.

WHAT TO BRING:
Comfortable clothing

Packed lunch, labeled
Snack (if desired), labeled
Water bottle, labeled

Vacation Church School 2021

Vacation Church School will take place Monday, July 12 to Friday July 16 from 9am to 1pm!
This year's theme will focus on Team Jesus. Please wear your favorite sports team fangear or your favorite color the first day of VCS. We will provide T-shirts for campers and volunteers on the first day. Sign up before July 1 to save your spot!

In the case of extreme weather conditions, we will go inside and follow Diocese COVID Policies in effect at the time of VCS. Your camper will need to bring a packed lunch and a snack if desired. Please also bring a clearly labeled water bottle for your campers (the church will have water if needed). Both campers and volunteers must be registered ahead of time to appropriately plan! Campers will learn about Team Jesus with instruction from our priests, games competitions, and crafts! At the end of the morning they will eat and have play time with their peers. We ask that there be no cell phone use amongst campers or volunteers. You may contact the office in case of an emergency if you need to get ahold or camper.

9am Check in/Drop off
9:30 to 12:00pm Instruction/crafts
12:00pm to 1pm Lunch and play
You may pick your up your kids at anytime from noon to 1pm if you choose, but they must be picked up no later than 1pm! Come to the outdoor area by playground behind the church for pick up (make sure  you check them out!)

1st day only:
Wear fangear of your favorite team or color

Everyday:
Comfortable clothes
Packed lunch, labeled
Snack, if desired, labeled
Water bottle, labeled
A mask (just in case)
