International Orthodox Christain Charities (IOCC)

The months June, July, and August are dedicated by Philoptochos to supporting IOCC, International Orthodox Christian Charities. IOCC is the pan-Orthodox humanitarian organization that helps bring hope to many around the world who are in need, regardless of their background or religious affiliation.

IOCC is the official humanitarian aid agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North America. Since its inception in 1992, IOCC has delivered more than $771 million in relief and development programs to families and communities in more than 60 countries. All assistance is provided to those in need without discrimination. Since IOCC’s inception, an average of 92 cents on every dollar donated has gone directly to assisting the people IOCC serves. On average, every dollar given has helped secure $7 in support from public and private institutional sources.

Through your generosity and compassion, IOCC has recently responded in the following countries:
  • In Ukraine and surrounding countries, regular distributions of food, hygiene items, and more to 5,000 people in shelters. Monthly groceries and essential supplies for 3,200 families who are hosting refugees (toiletries, baby care, and household cleaning items).
  • In Greece, 350 families with young children and limited income received prepaid grocery cards to purchase fresh food each month. Over 1,000 families received monthly dry-food parcels, and an IOCC-supported soup kitchen served about 1,300 weekly meals to people experiencing homelessness in Athens’ city center.
  • In Ethiopia, improved water infrastructure now directly serves 1,200 people (nearly half of them under age 18) with reliable access to safe water, helping them protect their health and better care for more than 1,500 domestic animals, an important source of income.
