After one year of extensive planning, and adjustments due to the COVID-19, we are now ready for the Roll-out of the St. Nicholas Strategic Plan. Originally planned for the social hall (thanks a lot COVID-19!) for March 17th, we will instead have a virtual Roll-out event on Sunday, June 7.
Dear parishioners, we are excited to share with you our latest newsletter. Thank you for your continuous and generous support!
The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America announces the creation of the “Greek Orthodox Archdiocese COVID-19 Relief Fund” as an important part of its efforts to support those around the country who have been impacted by the current pandemic. One-time grants of up to $2,500 will be made available to those who are facing extreme financial hardship as a result of COVID-19.
"After much prayer and deliberation, and in the best interest of the beloved faithful of our Metropolis, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the summer camp programs for 2020: MDSC – Metropolis of Detroit Summer Camp (Michigan), St. Nicholas Summer Camp (Kentucky), and St. Timothy Summer Camp (New York). Although we hope that much of this crisis will subside by summertime, there are far too many medical and scientific unknowns which would leave our camps vulnerable and potentially dangerous to its participants as well as their loved ones at home." Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer extended today the stay home order to May 15th. For more details, read the order here.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the small business owners in our parish are directly affected by its devastating financial effects. We kindly ask of you, if possible, to not only pray for our entire community during this time but also support all those who are allowed to provide essential services. Here is a list of the small businesses* that are still operating during this crisis:
We are disappointed to announce that Ionian Village 2020 has been cancelled. There is a real prospect that the COVID-19 virus will continue to be a reality in our world even as we move into the summer months. Ongoing conversations with medical experts, whose expertise has been shaping the national and international response to COVID-19, led us to this decision. Arriving at this heartbreaking conclusion demonstrates our love for the physical and spiritual welfare of the youth of our Archdiocese and those prepared to serve them. The health and well-being of all participants is the core of who we are as a Church and as a camping Ministry.
DETROIT, Apr. 11, 2020 – DTE Energy is preparing for severe weather that is forecast for Southeast Michigan on Monday, potentially causing a significant number of power outages.
Beloved parishioners and friends, in response to the Coronavirus epidemic, we have created a page on our website with all the notices and guidelines pertinent to this unfortunate event, updated regularly. Please follow the guidelines posted at this webpage: www.stnickaa.org/coronavirus.
